JAY JAY FRENCH: 'LES PAUL May Be Gone In Body, But His Legacy Will Last For Generations'
August 15, 2009TWISTED SISTER guitarist Jay Jay French has issued the following statement regarding the passing of music icon Les Paul:
"Les Paul, who, along with Leo Fender, became one of the most important figures in the evolution of the electric guitar. Without the 'sound' of the Les Paul guitar, the heavily amplified blues that evolved into the sound of heavy metal rock that we know today, would not have occurred.
"It can never be overstated: Les Paul and his guitar design are responsible for some of the greatest rock music ever recorded.
"As a guitar player, it wasn't until I could own a Les Paul model guitar that I felt that I had reached an important milestone in my life.
"One of the greatest thrills for me as a musician is that I have my own model Les Paul made by Epiphone with my name and Les Paul's name on the same head stock. That is a dream come true.
"Les Paul may be gone in body, but his legacy will last for generations."
Les Paul died in White Plains, New York, from complications of severe pneumonia.
